My Bed and Breakfast Experiences of The Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi coast is considered one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world. The breath-taking views, the crystal clear waters, the welcoming locals, the excellent weather condition throughout all seasons, all contribute to its excellent reputation. Tourists get to enjoy the same scenery and coastline that was once admired by Roman emperors, Vatican popes, kings, and queens.

Thanks to the many bed and breakfast accommodation places, it is very easy to find a place to stay in this magnificent region. Most of them are perfectly blended with the surrounding nature and offer a view to die for. It is an experience that speaks for itself. Three out of four travelers say that B&Bs serve better than the hotels. In this article, I will share my experience with the B&Bs on the Amalfi Coast.

Monte Solaro is one of the best spots for that. B&B in Anacapri features an incredible view of bays of Naples and Salerno. Plus, it is a pretty good starting point if you want to further explore the entire Amalfi coast with its ancient cathedrals and Roman gardens. Then there is the nearby Anacapri’s Villa di Damecuta that was built by no other than Tiberius.

Casa Cuccaro is quite a popular B&B place that is run by a local family. From the moment you arrive, you will feel like part of the family. Pepe and his family make sure that everyone feels welcomed and enjoy their stay. Their place was once an ancient agricultural building set in the picturesque village of Nocelle.

Ravell is not just another B&B place on the Amalfi coast. It is one of the most popular ones in the region because it is favorite with many celebrities, writers, and artists. The list of former famous guests includes Virginia Volf, Greta Garbo, Andre Gide, Truman Capote, Tennessee Williams, Jacqueline Kennedy, Edvard Grieg, Giovani Boccaccio, and many others. Probably, the most famous one is Richard Wagner who supposedly found his inspiration for Parsifal while staying there. His words are still carved in the guestbook, saying “The magical garden of Klingsor is found.”

If you prefer to stay in the city, then the Hotel Amalfi is worth considering. This small hotel is located in the very center of the Amalfi town on one of its historic buildings. The hotel is run by the Lucibello family, one of the oldest families in town. The hotel’s private garden is spectacular with amazing flowers and several citrus trees. This hotel is top-rated because it is the best starting point for exploring the Amalfi coastline. The cathedral and the historic center are right behind its corner.

Pro Tip: If you want to make the most of your visit, ask the locals for recommendations. Yes, the internet and tourist agencies are extremely helpful, but the locals that have the best insights. Just talk to them, and you will find them very helpful and welcoming. They are also very proud of their history. So, if they start talking about their history, they can talk for hours.
